Nicki Minaj Detained Over Cannabis, Manchester Concert Postponed

MANCHESTER, England — Barbz, brace yourselves! Nicki Minaj’s highly-anticipated Manchester concert set for Saturday night hit a snag when Dutch police found marijuana in her bags, causing an unexpected delay.

Live Nation, the show’s promoter, assured fans that the concert will be rescheduled and all tickets will be honored. “Despite Nicki’s best efforts to explore every possible avenue to make tonight’s show happen, the events of today have made it impossible,” the promoter said. “We are deeply disappointed by the inconvenience this has caused.”

Nicki herself took to Twitter earlier on Saturday to spill the tea. She was stopped at Amsterdam airport as she was about to jet off for her Manchester gig. The reason? Police found some weed in her bags, and they had to weigh it. Cannabis may be tolerated in the Netherlands for recreational use, but it’s still technically illegal.

Robert Van Kapel, spokesperson for the Netherlands military police, confirmed the drama, saying a 41-year-old American woman had been arrested for trying to export “soft drugs.” While he didn’t name Nicki directly, it wasn’t hard to connect the dots. Police later tweeted that the woman was fined and released.

Nicki, who’s 41, wasn’t having it. She tweeted, “Told you, it’s to try to make me late so that they can write negative stories. Jealousy is a disease. You know the rest.”

Her reps stayed mum on the incident Saturday, but the Queen of Rap is known for her unapologetic stance and this was no different.

Best known for chart-toppers like “Super Freaky Girl,” “Anaconda,” and “Starships,” Nicki has 12 Grammy nominations under her belt. The Manchester show is part of her “Pink Friday 2” tour, which promises to light up cities from Paris to Poland, Germany, Romania, and Switzerland.

Stay tuned, Barbz—your queen will be back, and she’s not letting a little airport drama keep her down.
